Our story

How it all started

We started designing sites around the turn of the century for fun (and sometimes a little pocket change) and found that we liked the process. Next thing you know we were designing dozens of websites as a hobby.

We built sites not only for ourselves but also to support several business ventures—though, admittedly, some didn’t quite take off. During this experimentation, we stumbled upon the Google AdSense phenomenon, leading us to develop 2showya.com and several other AdSense-focused websites.

To streamline our process, we created a PHP framework that allowed us to build sites quickly. It was an exciting time as the PHP programming language was gaining traction, so we dove headfirst into learning it.

Another trend during the early years was the Ebay store craze—when auctions were still in vougue—we were creating our storefront in html and css. Yahoo!

This experience not only sharpened our skills but also deepened our passion for web development. But, all this was just for fun and we made our living in other ways.

On a personal note

It’s About Family

In the early 2000s, as our family grew with the arrival of our kids, TJ realized he needed to find ways to support us while keeping our family close. We had witnessed—and you probably have too—how often success could come at the cost of casting aside strong family relationships, and we wanted to avoid that at all costs.

To strike a balance, we began building businesses (and corresponding websites) in our spare time. We even had friends ask for help with websites. Home schooling became a central part of our family life, allowing us to foster both education and closeness among ourselves.

Interesting story: When our children reached an age where they could start writing, we created a hyper-local news website just for them. This platform allowed them to write articles and practice journalism skills while learning to connect with others.

It provided a unique opportunity for them to listen actively and synthesize their experiences into written form for an audience.

That site remains active today. You can visit it at www.AltonMo.com today.

But, TJ was still doing this in his spare time.

A Business is Born

So, there we were—working on and making websites for free—when the idea popped into our heads that we should start selling websites instead of trying to start other businesses. The skills we use to create beautiful and functional sites could turn into something more—a website design business! We seemed to be pretty good at it, and there’s demand, right?
